Why Is Your Smart Phone Battery Draining So Fast?

Whether your phone is an iPhone or an Android you will have come across a fast draining battery by now. It’s inevitable. The longer we hold on to our phones, using them well past their age limit or the more and more apps we install they batteries just seem to drain faster than ever. You don’t want a new phone, so what can you do about it?

TL;DR = Buy a Portable Charger

Also known as powerbanks, a portable charger can save you time, money and hassle. As a quick fix solution this is your best bet. You don’t need to buy a replacements battery only to find out its the wrong one. You don’t need to pay someone to replace the battery or do it yourself. You don’t need to trawl through your settings or apps. Just buy a powerbank already!

Too Many/ Poor Apps = Uninstall Apps

Had your smart device for at least a few weeks now and installed every app anyone has ever told you is good? Are you really gonna use them? If not, delete them! You’ll notice a huge improvement

Old/Dying Battery = Replace Your Battery

Like anything technology related, batteries age and start performing poorly after a time. It’s possible that your battery has lots its ‘juice’. You can purchase a new battery and replace it yourself or take it to your local phone repair technician.

New Update/Wrong Settings = Modify Settings

Soon after a new iOS or Android update a lot of complaints start surfacing really quickly about people’s iPhones (whether that’s an iPhone 5s, iPhone 6s or even the iPhone X) draining fast as well as Samsung Galaxys and other popular Android phones. Sometimes there’s a bug in the update and Apple and Google will provide a patch quickly to rectify the issue. First thing you should do is check to see if there are any patches and apply them straight away.

Sometimes though, the problem appears a week or even a month after the update and you’ll think it’s unrelated to it, but it might be. Check your Battery Settings and Performance Settings. You may have them set for full performance which will make your cell phone battery drain faster.

Given that a smart phone has adjustable brightness, GPS/Location Settings and other awesome features, you probably don’t want to turn these off. These are some of the reasons you bought a smart phone in the first place! So I won’t recommend that here.

Needs a Good Reset = Turn it off and on again

You haven’t turned your phone off in aaaaagesss! I don’t mean a restart. I mean a power off, wait a bit and then a power on. Try that as it may close all the apps you have running in the background, clear some caches and make things run smoother. A common fix for a phone battery draining fast is to let it run until it is dead. Charge it to 100% and then power it back on again.

Hopefully one or all of these tips have helped you with your fast draining battery problem. If not, as mentioned right at the start you should get yourself a portable charger. Here is a very popular, great quality and well priced option:
